Travel Information

There are a variety of ways in which you can get to Masterton and Hood Aerodrome for the airshow:

Train :: Car :: Bus Charter :: Air Charter :: Steam Train :: Fly


Train: Click Here for the Tranz Metro schedule and ticket prices.

There will be a bus service meeting the train at Masterton Railway Station and transferring patrons to Hood Aerodrome at the beginning of the day, and a return service to the Railway Station at the end of the day. Cost: Gold Coin donation.

 


Car: If travelling North, come via State Highway 2 from Wellington via the Rimutaka Hill and Featherston.

If you're travelling south, drive via State Highway 2 through Woodville and Pahiatua.

Disabled parking facilities will be available on site. Refer to the site map.

 


nimonBus Charter From The Hawkes Bay: Nimon Wine Country Tour Specialists are running bus charters from the Hawkes Bay to Wings Over Wairarapa on Sunday 18th January 2008:

Date: Sunday 18/01/2009

Departs Napier Depot: 6:30am
Departs Havelockl North Depot: 7:00am

Returns to Havelock North: 19:45
Returns to Napier: 20:15

Coach cost only $40:00 per person return

Air Charters: Several operators are currently investigating operating air charters into Hood Aerodrome on each of the show days. More details will be provided here as they come to hand.

Helipro are offering both fixed wing and helicopter options and those interested can call 0800 HELIPRO and speak to either Geoff in Paraparaumu or Ned who is in Wellington.

 


Steam Train: There is the possibility of a steam train excursion from Palmerston North, via the Manawatu Gorge. More details will be provided here as they come to hand.

 


Private Pilots: Any pilots planning on flying in to Hood Aerodrome before or during the airshow should check out the new NZAIP Supplement here.
