Attending Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival and have a self-contained motorhome?
We have partnered with Masterton A&P (Solway) Showgrounds to provide motorhome sites located just a short distance from Hood Aerodrome. A free shuttle service will be provided throughout the day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday to transport motorhome guests from the Showgrounds to Hood Aerodrome and back again.

Note: there are no motorhome camping sites available at the Wings Over Wairarapa event grounds in 2023.

SHUTTLE INFORMATION

Shuttles will run regularly at the start and end of the festival day, as well as hourly throughout the day to.

Friday

  • 11am: Masterton A&P Showgrounds to Hood Aerodrome

  • 4:30pm: Hood Aerodrome to Masterton A&P Showgrounds

Saturday and Sunday

  • 7:45-11am: Loop between Masterton A&P Showgrounds and Hood Aerodrome

  • 12pm, 1pm, 2pm: Hood Aerodrome to Masterton A&P Showgrounds

  • 3-5pm: Loop between Hood Aerodrome and Masterton A&P Showgrounds

Motorhome Parking Conditions

Self-contained Motorhomes or Caravans

All self-contained motorhomes are welcome however depending on the size of the vehicle owners may be directed to specific allocated sites.

  • You will need to arrive onsite by 8.30pm at the latest on the day/night that you are arriving as the gates will be closed

By booking a site you agree to the following terms and conditions.

  • Each site is 8m x 12m and non-powered.

  • Your motorhome and/or caravan is fully self-contained. There are toilets available for use on site as well as showers ($2 cost per shower)

  • No tents to be erected on the site.

  • You will remove all rubbish from the site that you bring/create, leaving the site as you found it.

  • To access Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival you will need to purchase tickets for the event.

  • You understand that sites will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

  • You understand that at the sole discretion of management of the Masterton A & P Showgrounds, should you not adhere to the terms and conditions laid out above you may be asked to leave the site immediately.

  • Shuttles will be running free of charge for those with motorhome bookings from the Showgrounds to the Wings over Wairarapa Air Festival.

  • Wings over Wairarapa Motorhomes and Caravans will be parked in a designated area not with the general motorhome parks.

  • Dump Station available 24/7

  • Dogs are welcome but must be on a lead or tethered at all times. Note dogs are not allowed to be taken to Wings Over Wairarapa Air Festival.

FAQ

  • There are a limited number of sites available, so it will be on a first come, first served basis. We therefore recommend booking a site online as soon as possible to avoid missing out.

  • The cost is $15 per person, per night with children 5 years and under free.

  • Yes, you can book more than one site however you need to book one site at a time on the Eventfinda ticketing site.

  • You will need to email events@theshowgrounds.nz prior to booking a site to check that they can accommodate your motorhome.

  • No, you can book to stay for one, two or three nights.

  • On the Eventfinda website click on ‘My Eventfinda’ and then ‘My Tickets’ and choose ‘Buy Add On’ which will show up beside your Wings ticket purchase

  • You don’t require any specific festival ticket type to book a motorhome site at Masterton A&P Showgrounds.

    You do need to ensure you book and pay for your motorhome site before arrival though.

  • Shuttles will run regularly at the start and end of the festival day, as well as hourly throughout the day to. A finalised schedule will be released in the come few weeks.

  • It is a 3-minute drive or 25-minute walk.

  • Day parking will be available onsite.

    We ask that anyone wishing to park up overnight, for one or multiple nights, book and stay at Masterton A&P Showgrounds.

  • There is one at Masterton A&P Showgrounds, but you’ll also find further dump stations in Masterton, Carterton, Greytown and Martinborough. Refer to the NZMCA Travel Guide or ask the i-SITE Visitor Centre.
